Typing out the date has just made me realise that next month I could possibly have a little babe in my arms or be so very close to bursting. Oh how this pregnancy has flown! In saying that, since I’ve stopped travelling for work time is passing somewhat slower and I’m certainly savouring it.
Doing: Other than obviously sitting and typing this. Patiently waiting for Alex to arrive home. He’s coming home for lunch today *cue squeals of excitement* He doesn’t often come home for lunch because he only gets a short break so this feels like a real treat. I’m feeling sick and run down and it’s raining and so so cold. His company for lunch will surely brighten my day. I have a pot of soup bubbling away on the stove and cannot wait to dig in. Kitchen currently smells divine.
Hearing: Alex thinks I’m a fancy pants these days as I’ve been listening to classical music during the day. I’ve also been listening to music via Pandora, which has been a great way to find some new tunes, and I’m slowly putting together a birth playlist.
Making: I’m crafting for the first time in a long time and really enjoying. I spent hours in Spotlight the other day picking out fabrics for a quilt for baby. The triangles are cut and ready to be sewed together. I’ve also made a few cushion covers and have bought some felt balls to make a mobile and garland for baby’s room.
Cooking: I enjoyed baking for my baby shower last week but other than that I’m not too interested in spending time in the kitchen at the moment. Eggs and avocado are on heavy lunch rotation and dinner is mostly some variation on meat and three veg, or pasta – there’s been a lot of pasta lately. Next week I’ll hustle in the kitchen for a day or two to make a few weeks supply of food for those hazy newborn days.
Drinking: water, raspberry leaf tea, smoothies, juice, a much loved little glass of champagne at the baby shower, and as of today my sick day remedy tea – ginger, lemon, thyme, cinnamon stick and a touch of honey.
Craving: baked chocolate goods. I am a lover of chocolate but for most of this pregnancy I haven’t really felt like eating it much at all. That changed last week and now most days I find myself craving a gooey brownie, slice of chocolate cake or a good cookie. I ended up with a leftover chocolate cake after the shower which I promptly cut into small slices and put away in the freezer as breastfeeding fuel. They’ve been sneaking out of the freezer early and make for excellent baby growing fuel instead!
Reading: I’m kind of done with reading about birth. I don’t feel like much of it is staying in my head so have started reading ahead about breastfeeding. But in saying that I pulled the last birth book off my shelf and am so glad that I did. It’s called Birthing from Within and is so where my head is at the moment, talking about the psychology for mum about birth. I’m only a few pages in but really enjoying it, glad I decided to give it a go. This and this are on my list for the newborn days.
Wanting: some new trackpants. My current pair became renovating pants and are now covered in spatterings of paint.
Buying: some little leggings and jumpers for baby and wishing I’d done it earlier when the shops were flowing with those items. It seems I’ve left it a touch late and everywhere seems to be about summer now so they’ve been a bit hard to find. Online shopping to the rescue.
Looking: at all of the cute baby things!
Playing: the piano again. It’s been such a long time since I’ve played and some lessons are most definitely in order but I’ll leave that for next year. Bubba sure kicks away as I play, I like to think they’re enjoying it too.
Enjoying: sickness aside, I’m enjoying the happy, blessed, love bubble we’re in right now after the baby shower, lots of good feelings.
Pondering: names, still needing to work on that one.
Deciding: blind colours for our room so that we can replace the sheets we’ve pinned up. Also those cheeky little birds appear at our window before 6am every morning and peck away for a good half hour!
Considering: an afternoon nap once I’ve finished typing this.
Wearing: I think I’ve typed this sentence every time I written one of these posts… all of the warm clothes. Yesterday was stunning and I was bummed I didn’t get out and enjoy a long walk, it was even t-shirt weather, but waiting for the repair man to come to fix our fridge was worth it as it no longer makes a loud grinding noise. Today it’s back to cold and tomorrow it’s only going to be 7 degrees. Spring we need to talk!
Feeling: sick and run down, but also so blessed and happy and excited!
Gorgeous quilt!! Loved reading this. LOVE Pinky McKay x
Isn’t she great! I’ll be looking to her (and you) for encouragement and confirmation in the coming months I’m sure xoxo
