Pinch me, because I’m not quite sure how that happened. To say I’ve had a few distractions would be the understatement of the year, and I’m sure that’s why this pregnancy has flown by. Thankfully life has completely slowed down and I’m soaking up every minute before our sweet bambino arrives. And finally giving this babe and preparation for birth the attention it so rightfully deserves.
Every morning is now delightfully slow. I wake and have some water and a small glass of orange juice along with a few supplements. Then I do some yoga and stretches. I am loving these online classes. I enjoy breakfast whilst reading, and then often head out for a long walk up the hill. Twice a week I get to the pool. Then my days are free to take as I please. I do go to my clinic on Mondays to write and I see a handful of clients here and there. I’m trying to get all of my life admin in order so that I can craft and nest my heart out for the remainder of this pregnancy. I feel so blessed and fortunate to have this precious time. Alex is incredibly supportive and we are enjoying these last few months of just the two of us, whilst getting so so excited about our little one’s arrival. It really is a most special time and I’m just so grateful to be taking it so slow and savouring it. Alex has been very busy catching up on PhD work but had his end of year review at the start of week 35 so has pushed that back to the side for now so we can really be present together for these last few weeks of just the two of us.
Babymoon
I wanted to have one last little get away before our baby joins us on the outside, so Alex took a day off work and we had a long weekend away together. We thought about having a staycation but there’s too much to do around the house for it to feel like a break. When deciding where to go the location had to be warmer, close enough to drive and be by the beach. We settled on Port Stephens and had the most wonderful time. I only wore a jumper once which was divine. Unfortunately the bed was super uncomfortable so we were up by 6am every morning, which wasn’t a bad thing.
(Fish and chip craving satisfied)
On Saturday we had a most perfect day. An early start means you can fit a lot into your day and we didn’t even feel like we were rushing or squeezing things in. We woke outrageously early, enjoyed oats in the sunshine, walked up Mt Tomaree and admired the view. We watched a pod of dolphins and dipped our toes in the ocean. Then we drove around to Fingal Bay and drank milkshakes on the beach. The wind had picked up by then and we decided it was just that bit too chilly to swim. Next we checked out the Stockton sand dunes, so big! One day we’ll go back and slide down them. Then we headed back to our accommodation and enjoyed a cheese plate for lunch. Alex went for a run and I napped. Then we went into Nelson Bay, walked along the shore and ate a delicious slow roasted lamb shoulder for dinner. Back to our accommodation for a Magnum on the couch, listened to a CalmBirth relaxation and went to bed. We agreed it was the most perfect way to spend a day.
Baby
Baby has continued to flip up and down so I’ve decided not to think about baby’s position at all until we get closer to crunch time. Baby likes to flip around and I’m cool with that. Other than some back pain, leg cramps at night and a little heart burn creeping in I’ve had a super dreamy pregnancy so far. I’m still convinced baby is coming early so I feel this sense of urgency to finish baby’s room, buy all things baby and get my bag packed for the hospital. We really must sit down and gather our thoughts on birth preferences. We’re not having a birth plan, intentions is a far more flexible term, probably the best thing I learned at Calm Birth.
Bubba’s room
Bubba’s room is quickly becoming our favourite in the house, though I’ve long debated the necessity of a nursery. Baby will sleep in our room to start with and perhaps a guest room may be a better use for the space given that we’re a long way from our family and friends now. But we do have the space and I’ve loved scouring Pinterest and Instagram for ideas. It’s nice to have a space to gather all of baby’s things. I imagine us spending a lot of time in there together. Alex wants it to be a sanctuary for baby and I, bless his heart, and I couldn’t agree more. It will be the first complete room in the house. And in the future when we get to doing some of our bigger renovations, I’m sure we’ll come to appreciate this peaceful space we can escape to and relax in.
Sweet. And so nice to have a record of this amazing time! I’m right there with you… where has the time gone!?
It is. It seems time flies when you’re having fun and busy growing babies!
